What is Boss Battle?

Boss Battle is a tactical RPG card game for 1-4 players, inspired by epic boss fights in fantasy role-playing games. The story takes place in the kingdom of Galdor, which has faced threats from powerful monsters for centuries. Now, its defenders are fighting to reclaim their lands, while new dangers emerge through rifts in the spirit realm. Players can join forces against a common enemy or take control of the boss and destroy anyone who dares to challenge it.

There are four hero classes to choose from. The Warrior takes the brunt of incoming attacks, the Priestess uses the forest's magic to heal and support allies, the Mage wields devastating fire spells, and the Thief relies on surprise attacks. Opposing them are Tavrog the Dragon, who can burn enemies to ash, and Zaros the Necromancer, who raises an army of undead. Each boss has unique abilities and weaknesses, so players must adapt their tactics to the enemy they face.

How do battles work in Boss Battle?

In Boss Battle, timing matters as much as the cards you choose. Players place cards in battle lanes, where they advance toward activation. Speed determines the order in which effects resolve, so a well-timed attack can strike before an opponent or disrupt their plans.

As the battle progresses, players gain access to more powerful cards. The team must coordinate its actions, protect its members, and find effective combinations of abilities. The boss uses its own skills to disrupt their plans and turn the tide of battle. The game supports solo, cooperative, and competitive play. A session lasts around 45-90 minutes.

The Kickstarter campaign for Boss Battle has already far surpassed its original funding goal, but it closes on October 20, 2026. Anyone hoping to get a physical copy still has time to back the project and pre-order the boxed edition.
